FRIENDS of the THEATRE |
The Hawera Memorial Theatre Trust is a charitable organisation and, as such, relies entirely on donations, grants and volunteer input to fulfil its aims and objectives.
Since its inception, the Trust has been very appreciative of the many citizens of the region who have donated annually and have become a Friend of the Theatre. The donation (minimum $20:00) is eligible for tax purposes and receipts are issued annually. FRIENDS are invoiced annually, following the AGM of the Trust.
Many FRIENDS are also volunteers and make themselves available when asked to undertake roles in Front of House duties, technical aspects such as lighting and sound; backstage duties; costuming & make-up and some publicity and promotion work. On the odd occasion the Trust may call for volunteers for a working bee at the theatre if there was major work to be done. If you would like to be a volunteer, just contact any Trustee and they will be happy to take your details. The BECOME A FRIEND form has a section for VOLUNTEER. Click the link to get this form.

Why Become A Friend?
Because -
- you have an interest in the performing arts and would like to see it continue in the region
- we have a top-class theatre that brings local, regional and international groups to the town and we need to provide the latest equipment and amenities for them to continue to come
- the Trust could not function without donations from the community and community organisations.
- it brings people together for a common, community cause
- it gives the Trustees the ability to plan for future improvements and initiatives to keep the theatre "alive"
- we love having you on our journey!
THE FIRST TEN YEARS - 2011 - 2021
The Trust was formed in 2011. The past ten years have seen significant changes in the theatre with many of the improvements being made possible by the Trust running fund-raiser shows, applying for and receiving grants and donations. The Trust is very appreciative of the support given from the South Taranaki District Council in actioning these improvements.
