Trust
The Hawera Memorial Theatre Trust was formed in 2011.
This was spearheaded by Russ Standing, a lover of the ARTS and an actor and director of many shows performed in the theatre over the years. Russ brought together of group of people interested in both the performing arts and working for their community and together they created a partnership with the South Taranaki District Council setting in place a foundation upon which to build, maintain and improve the wonderful community facility that is the Hawera Memorial Theatre.

The Trust celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2021 and are, rightfully, proud of their achievements over the past decade.
The purpose of the Trust as set down in its Deeds is "to assist in the provision of facilities for recreation and cultural activities and in particular to provide financial and other assistance to the venue* for the benefit of the general public of South Taranaki". Over the past ten years, the Trust has been instrumental in many improvements to the theatre and South Taranaki can rightfully claim the existence of a "state-of- the- art" theatre, enabling Taranaki residents theatre experiences matching those in many larger cities.

Ten years on, the Trust is still committed to ensuring the people of South Taranaki, in particular, have access to a theatre that is of a high standard for both performing and experiencing performances. The Trust is grateful to Friends of the Trust and the many organisations and foundations that support our endeavours through their sponsorship. The Trust is also committed to providing opportunities for local groups to use the theatre through its Limited Use Sponsorship Programme. The Theatre Trust Singers
Established in 2018
This is a non-auditioned, all-comers, male and female adult choir for those who wish to participate in the joy of singing. It has been formed to provide an opportunity for singers to engage in music from around the world and to perform for the community of South Taranaki and to enhance the performing arts and the cultural wellbeing of the district.
The Theatre Trust Singers meet weekly on Tuesdays at 7:00pm at the Hawera Memorial Hall Lounge.
The group performs at public gatherings and by invitation at a variety of venues and at the Hawera Memorial Theatre Trust fundraising performances.
An annual subscription of $50 is payable to the Trust and is set to pay for general expenses such as photocopying, backing tracks, sheet music and music copyright. It also automatically gives you Friends of the Theatre status.
All matters relating to the choir should be referred to Judy Brown (Trustee / Choir Liaison) [email protected] to the Trust Secretary [email protected] or speak to any Trustee or current Theatre Trust Singer for further details.
